National Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Information Center

PLEASE BOOKMARK THIS PAGE SO YOU CAN RETURN TO IT AT ANYTIME FOR REFERENCE WHEN CHOOSING A REHAB

The National Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Information Center maintains a state-of-the-art national database of the leading alcohol rehab treatment and drug rehab treatment centers in the US and around the world for every level of treatment option from affordable to luxury. Our national database is consistently updated to include all of the addiction treatment options in your local area as well as the leading addiction treatment centers in the country for those who are able to travel outside of their local area to receive the best help that is available. The NASAIC (National Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Information Center) was established 20 years ago with the goal of providing fast, accurate and detailed information about every aspect of alcoholism and/or substance abuse and to recommend the best alcohol rehab and/or drug rehab centers locally, nationally or internationally.

Our staff is available 24/7 to answer any of your questions

You can choose to call, live chat or fill out the contact form to communicate with anyone on our staff here at the NASAIC (National Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Information Center). 24/7, you will always get a friendly, helpful experienced person ready to answer any questions you have or recommend the best addiction treatment option personally for you or your loved one.

Our staff is comprised of people just like yourself or your loved one who at one or more times in their lives needed to find help for their own personal battles with alcohol and/or drugs. They know what works and (sometimes more importantly) what doesn’t work and will only result in a vicious cycle of failure and relapse.

When you contact us we provide you with fast accurate information on the best place to get help for you or your loved one.

Our staff understands that finding current, accurate, relevant information, facts and recommendations about alcoholism or drug addiction treatment can be overwhelming and confusing - and often decisions are made for all the wrong reasons such as whatever treatment center is the closest to you or your loved one.

*YOU NEED TO LEARN TO NAVIGATE THROUGH ALL THE MISLEADING ADVERTISING YOU WILL ENCOUNTER

There is so much misleading advertising on TV, the radio, in print and online about what is the best addiction treatment option for you or your loved one. It can be especially frustrating when you encounter ads on search engines (like Google, Yahoo, Bing) with rehabs that list exactly what you typed in for your search, only to find when you go to the rehab's website they don't offer what they are advertising for in the their ads. For example an ad might claim to be a "women's rehab", but in actuality they are not a women's rehab and don't even mention a women's program anywhere on their website! Everyone has heard of alcoholics anonymous (AA), but there are sites that try to pass them self off to look like the official AA website. These sites usually include a small disclaimer like "Unofficial Alcoholics Anonymous Site" in the hopes that most people will won't realize they aren't looking at the real Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) website. A site may claim to be voted #1 or rated #1 or "Best Choice", when all they have done to get the endorsement is pay a 3rd party referral site like rehabs.org for the accreditation.

Fortunately, most of the misleading advertising you will encounter can be filtered out easily just by using basic common sense.

For example most people know that there is no instant fix or rapid detox (or the newest gimmick: ultra rapid detox) treatment for alcohol or drugs that will work in the long run. Just like there is no instant weight loss diet or magic pill that will work for the long term, there is also no instant, rapid, or ultra rapid alcohol rehab or drug rehab. A lot of times these type of facilities advertise themselves as being an ALTERNATIVE to traditional rehabs and claim they have some new form of treatment. Sometimes all they are offering you is an option to take a drug to get off the drug you are currently taking. You can't say you are clean or drug-free if you are simply swopping one drug for another drug. The big drug companies are all hoping you'll be fine having to take their drugs forever in place of the drugs you are currently taking. That would be like telling people you consider yourself sober, because now you only drink whiskey that is 80 proof instead of 96 proof!

*REMEMBER REHAB DOES WORK . . . IF YOU GO TO THE RIGHT REHAB . . . ALWAYS CHOOSE INPATIENT TREATMENT (also known as residential treatment), OVER JUST BEING TREATED ON A OUTPATIENT BASIS FOR THE BEST CHANCE OF ACHEIVING A LASTING RECOVERY . . . TRYING TO REHAB AFTER WORK IS NOT GOING TO WORK!

Don't be fooled by advertising that tries to make you think you should choose their rehab because their website shows everyone laughing and having a blast. REMEMBER THAT YOU AREN'T PICKING OUT A FUN PLACE TO GO ON VACATION FOR SPRINGBREAK! You are going to rehab to get help to stop drinking and/or taking drugs! If you want to see people who consistently go to rehab for the wrong reasons just turn on your TV or pick up one of the supermarket tabloids in the checkout aisle, you’ll see the same celebrities going back into rehab over and over again.

*The single most important question to ask any perspective rehab you are considering is: How many full-time doctors do you have on staff?

*A good reference to start is the ripoff report at ripoffreport.com to make sure the rehab you are considering has not been written up there.

*Ignore sites like pissedconsumer for reviews, because they encourage companies who receive a bad review on their site to buy their reputation management premium business service to offically respond to a consumer comments. As a result it is hard to trust any of the reviews you'll find on their site.

*Be on the lookout for treatment centers that actually only have one location but appear to be in almost every town in the US! They do this by using mailing locations that show up in Google maps but in actuality are only PO boxes or completely nonexistent physical locations.

*Forget rehab websites that have reviews/testimonials that are one sentence long and only have a person's first name without any location next to it. If a hospital supposedly saved your loved ones life, would you really write something like: "Thanks for saving my daughters life-Sally" or would you take the time to at least write a paragraph or possibly more to express your gratitude?

*5/9/2013 Here is a link to a unfortunate and tragic example of what can happen to your loved one if you choose the wrong rehab.

THE 7 WARNINGS FLAGS TO WATCH OUT FOR WHEN CHOOSING A REHAB FOR YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONE

WARNING FLAG #1: Any rehab that does not have the Accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations Gold seal displayed on the homepage of their website. Other organizations and symbols are no where near the equivalent . . . even if they display a gold seal too!
WARNING FLAG #2: Any rehab that says they have a cure for alcoholism or drug addiction in a book, a magic pill, or a natural herb and has no reported side effects (especially if they coincidentally sell any of the above miracle cures right on their website). Any rehab that claims they have their own "Secret Treatment", or "We reveal the Secrets of ", or anything with the word "SECRET" in it anywhere. Any medical detox treatment that will get you off drugs and/or alcohol and you'll lose 50 pounds all at the same time! Any rehab who boasts that their treatment is like going on an "Adventure" (Webster's own definition for Adventure: any undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks!) Any rehab that will treat you . . . by not treating you . . . using their special non-treatment solution! Forget anything with the word "SOLUTION" in it, because there is no one size fits all treatment solution for addiction.
WARNING FLAG #3: Any rehab that claims "Guaranteed Success" or "Sober Life" with ads like "Get Sober For Life in 30 Days" promising you that you'll stay clean & sober forever or you can return for free or get your money back. They will often have a very small legal disclaimer in the fine print (that is designed to be hard to read) explaining why they really don't guarantee lifetime sobriety or your money back! Legitimate treatment centers don't ever guarantee 100% success. Just like legitimate doctors don't guarantee an operation will be a complete success before they agree to operate on a patient. No legitimate treatment center can ever guarantee "Permanent Addiction Recovery". No legitimate detox center would ever claim their alcohol/drug detox has absolutely "No Withdrawl Symptoms".
WARNING FLAG #4: Any rehab that has unsubstantiated claims in their ads or on their website like any of the following:"Highest Success Rates", "Unsurpassed Success Rates", "Very High Success Rates", "We have an 84% Success Rate", "#1 Addiction Treatment Center","Florida's Top Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center", "Best Florida Detox Center", "Best Drug Rehab Center", "Our Rehab is Best" or any other claim that can never be substantiated. Ironically some of these same facilities who use unsubstantiated claims are often the ones with the lowest success rates. A red flag should go up whenever you see a rehab claiming to be THE BEST, or THE TOP, or the THE #1 because there is no legitimate way to ever prove it!
WARNING FLAG #5: Any rehab making claims that are not even mathematically possible like: "Our Success Rate is 4 Times higher than the national average". The national average relapse rate is around 50%, so they are actually claiming to have a 200% success rate!
WARNING FLAG #6: Any rehab that claims to have the "lowest cost treatment" while simultaneously providing you with the "highest quality treatment" using advertising like we provide the "THE HIGHEST QUALITY RECOVERY AT THE LOWEST POSSIBLE COST". Sometimes you'll see contradictory ads all from the same rehab. First advertising with ads for AFFORDABLE treatment and then advertising with ads for LUXURY treatment, that are all for the same rehab facility! There is no such thing as an AFFORDABLE LUXURY rehab or for that matter is there AFFORDABLE LUXURY for anything else in life either. Also be on the lookout for websites that advertise prices so low that you know that they are probably using the old bait & switch when you see "Detox or Treatment as low as $385!"
WARNING FLAG #7: Any rehab who coincidentally is having a special sale; but only for the current month for exactly the type of treatment that you contacted them about.

Our staff has successfully journeyed down the same road to recovery that you or your loved one will hopefully choose to embark upon too

Our staff knows the emotional turmoil and personal consequences of alcoholism and drug addiction treatment first hand. They have all successfully recovered from their own personal battle with alcohol addiction and/or drug addiction. They have successfully graduated from alcohol rehab centers or drug rehab centers from all over the country. This is very different than websites or social media sites where you can ask addicts questions and think they know what they are talking about because they are just like you. Our staff has successfully beaten their alcohol and/or drug addictions and have remained sober and continually abstain from drug use because of their successful alcohol and drug treatment. Although there are literally thousands of people all over the Internet (and especially Facebook) giving advice to people every day about what treatment center to go to, or what someone should try to quit drinking or taking drugs - these people have often not successfully beaten their own alcohol or drug addictions.

We provide you with straight talk and honest answers to your questions every minute of every day about what is involved with any intervention, detox, rehab treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction for you or your loved one. The staff at the NASAIC can provide you with information and treatment options for any type of drug problem including prescription drugs such as oxycodone (oxy), steroids, cocaine, crack, crystal meth, heroin, methadone, marijuana - just to name a few. Our state-of-the-art nationwide database includes every city and county in the U.S. We listen to each person because the right information is so important for recommending the right program. Our job is to provide the best addiction treatment answers possible. Our experienced, friendly staff is here 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ready to help and to answer questions about any specific drug and alcoholism issues and send out this information to you completely free.

IMPORTANT REMINDER!

Remember to STOP and THINK! Hopefully you will save you or your loved one a lot of time and expense of having to go back to another rehab after relapsing because you choose the wrong treatment center.

Just because a facility may look like something out of the lifestyles of the rich and famous with a beautiful large mansion, does not mean their rehab treatment is better than an average looking facility. If it is a luxury facility, naturally it will look better than an average facility because it costs more money to go there than an average facility. However, if it looks like a Hollywood celebrity could have been the former owner; it is probably because they want to be able to justify charging exorbitant prices that sometimes could be over 100K for just 30 days or less of treatment.

Remember that you or your loved one are in need of help and should consider yourself a PATIENT (just like if you went to a hospital for help). If a website talks about how they cater to SOPHISTICATED CLIENTS and boast that their facility is like "paradise" or "estate living" that provides"elite treatment", you are probably going to somewhere that is more like a spa than an actual place to get clean and sober. These are the type places that celebrities like to go to because they look just like the homes they live in. But because the facility is more like a spa, they often relapse and find themselves needing to keep going back again in the future.

Don't be misled by addiction recovery centers who boast about how many acres their facility it located on. It should not matter to you if they are located on 1 acre or 12 acres or 120 acres. Your concern should be the quality of their treatment program and the doctors who work there. You wouldn't ask when choosing a hospital to perform a potentially lifesaving surgery how many acres are they located on? Remember that you or your loved one are going to their rehab to hopefully save your life. Don't get caught up in all the advertising hype trying to influence you to choose a rehab based purely on appearance or location.

On the other side of the coin from luxury rehabs are halfway houses. If the rehab uses the word HOUSE anywhere in their name they usually are a halfway house (in spite of what they may tell you over the phone to convince you to go there). If they insist on claiming they aren't a halfway house, just ask them to explain why they would choose to use the word HOUSE in their name? To identify their ads they usually will use words like "Unique & Affordable". This is another contradiction, because if something is truly unique, it never costs less by comparison to a product or service that is considered to be common!

To the families and friends of those with an alcohol or drug addiction problem, we offer a variety of suggestions and alternatives including local treatment options or the leading alcohol rehab and drug rehab centers that are considered the best for each specific type of addiction (which probably will not be local to you). Most people seeking rehab treatment aren’t aware that one of the biggest reasons for alcohol drug rehab treatment not working, and for relapsing, is the decision to choose a rehab treatment center based on which one was closest geographically.

Our staff will only recommend licensed professional interventionists

Many times, before your loved one is ready to start alcohol rehab or drug rehab, they may need an intervention to make them face and accept that they really have a alcohol or drug problem. NASAIC (National Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Information Center) only recommends licensed professional interventionists for your loved one whether they need an alcohol intervention, drug intervention or family crisis intervention. Many families and friends wait until its too late to find help for their loved one or friend. The best time for an intervention is always sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, sometimes your loved one doesn’t make it until tomorrow or that future date when you were planning on getting them the help they so desperately need. Once the intervention has taken place, your loved one will be ready to begin the actual recovery process and start on their road to recovery from alcohol addiction or drug addiction.
